A christening brings together family and friends to mark one of life's earliest celebrations — and the decoration should reflect both the significance of the occasion and the personality of the family hosting it.
Whether you are planning a small, intimate gathering or a larger church ceremony followed by a reception, here is how we approach christening decoration at Aurea.
The ceremony space
For the church or baptism ceremony itself, decoration is often limited by the rules of the venue. Typically this means floral arrangements at the entrance, on the altar or around the baptismal font. We design these to be gracious and considered without overwhelming the sacred character of the space.
The reception venue
The reception is where the full creative concept comes together. We design a complete styling scheme that might include: a personalised welcome backdrop with the child's name, balloon arrangements in the chosen palette, floral centrepieces for guest tables, a styled dessert or cake table and canopy or ceiling decoration depending on the venue.
Palette guidance
For christenings, the most enduringly popular palettes are soft and light — dusty blues, sage greens, champagne, blush, ivory and white. That said, we always work from the brief of the family. A more graphic, contemporary palette can be just as beautiful when it is well considered.
Timing and setup
We arrive at the venue several hours before guests to install all elements. This ensures that by the time the family and guests arrive, everything is exactly as planned and you do not have to manage a single detail.
